Every year Walt Disney's Epcot theme park plays host to 'The Festival of the Arts'. This years event took place between 18th January to 25th February 2019 and gave visitors opportunity to immerse themselves in all things art from visual, performing and culinary. Visitors were able to take part in workshops, seminars meet artists and purchase unique artworks.
During the festival attendees were encouraged to participate in many large scale artworks which followed the painting by numbers theme.
A seemingly simple idea of painting by numbers creates a very effective finished artwork and gives all participants the opportunity to feel part of a masterpiece without needing any specific artistic skills. The completed works are extremely effective, bright and when viewed from a distance have a great visual impact.
This technique of painting by numbers will be adopted for the larger scale collaborative work produced during the project. There could be a possibility for the large scale artwork could be partially completed before the exhibition, but also give the opportunity for visitor interaction to complete the work whilst installed at the gallery, this is a decision which needs to be made, please keep checking back for updates.
