A job for everyone

The intention of the people drawings was to create images of job roles using both genders. Initial sketches were made over a number of job roles some of which are shown below;

From these hand-drawn sketches scans were made and digital versions were produced through the use of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

The idea of creating a book based around these characters was briefly explored but was dismissed at this stage to concentrate on other aspects of the project. Below are some examples of pages created for the proposed publication. Using colourful backgrounds worked on some pages, however on others it made the appearance jumbled and unclear, this would be something to consider if this is developed further in the future.

The designs were quite child friendly so the decision was made to include these designs within the school sessions. Colouring pages were made for the groups to colour in their own manner, leaving the faces blank for the children to add expressions themselves.

The digitally coloured designs initially proposed for the book were used as part of the presentation shown to the children during the classroom sessions.

Overall it is considered the decision to abandon the idea of producing a book was a wise one. However the designs produced will still form part of the project both with the above used images in the school sessions, but also the use of these characters in the proposed large-scale art work for the 4th May 2019 event.
