Today has been spent experimenting with pixilation in preparation for the large scale collage piece.
Using previously created painted image of Princess Leia, the image was scanned and several different filters were experimented with via the Adobe Photoshop software. The mosaic effect could be adopted for collage where as the square pixels may lend themselves more to painting.
This technique could be used to create a larger collage project. Maybe a life-size painting by numbers could be adopted for the group piece? Images of people in a variety of job roles are currently being explored, some of the children's artwork created could also be enlarged and pixilated to create the collage or painting by numbers. Consideration needs to be made as to the size of the final image and distance from which the artwork will be viewed.
This technique was recently used during Walt Disney World's 'Festival of the Arts' at Epcot offering visitors to the park the opportunity to take part in a large scale artwork. See the additional research on the Festival of the Arts.
